Your first ideas

This walkthrough takes you from one keyword to your first generated pages. It assumes that the setup wizard is done and that Aivie has a licence or a running trial.

Add a keyword

  1. Open the Aivie section and choose Keywords under Content.
  2. Press Add own keywords. Its hover text reads Add own keyword.
  3. Type your keyword in the dialog Add your own keyword: and confirm.

Aivie adds the keyword to the list and shows the message Keyword added. Pressing Generate keywords instead lets Aivie suggest keywords for you, but a single keyword of your own is enough to start.

Every keyword you add counts against the monthly keyword allowance of your package, or against the trial allowance. The button shows how many you have left, for example (5 left). When the allowance is used up you see Keyword limit reached. The limits are on the package tiers page. More about this screen is in Keywords.

Create an idea group

An idea group tells Aivie which keywords to write about, what kind of page to make, and in which months.

note

Before you create your first group, choose which content types a group can use. Right after installation no content type is selectable, so Which content type? stays empty and the group cannot generate pages. Open Configuration → Setup, choose the tab Settings and set Doctypes that can serve as an idea group in the group Idea generator, as described in Idea generator. Only members of Aivie-admin can do this.

  1. Open Ideas and choose the tab Clusters.

  2. Press New cluster. The dialog New idea group opens.

  3. Fill in the fields:

    FieldWhat to enter
Idea group nameA name for the group. Required.
Start dateThe first month the group is active. Required. If the month is too early, the dialog tells you the earliest month you can choose.
End dateThe last month. Optional. It cannot be earlier than the start date.
Which content type? The document type of the pages to generate. A group without a content type does not take part in generation, so choose one.
Which page should the ideas go under? The parent page for the new pages. Leave it empty to use the default from the settings.
Example pagesExisting pages of the chosen content type that show how pages on your site are built. Optional: if you choose none, Aivie picks examples itself. See Example pages.
Which keywords? The keywords this group writes about. Search the list and tick the keywords. They have to be on your keyword list first.

The dialog has more optional fields: Datasources, Which goals?, Services?, Target audience? and Custom instruction. They steer the text Aivie writes. The datasources come from the Datasources screen, and the goals, services and audiences from your general settings. See Datasources and Company and brand.

  4. Press Create.

The new group shows up as a card on the Clusters tab. A magnifier button on the card lets you try the group first. It works out one idea and shows what the group would produce, including which example page it used. Nothing is created, but it is a real AI call.

Auto generate

  1. On the Clusters tab, press Auto generate.
  2. Confirm the question Auto generate ideas based on active clusters?
  3. Wait. The button reads Generating... while Aivie works, and a run with several groups can take a few minutes. The run continues on the server even if you leave the page.

When it is done you see Automatic generation complete. Aivie works on the groups whose period covers the current month.

Generating counts against your plan. Each idea uses one idea of the monthly allowance, which the screen shows as N of M ideas remaining. During the trial the allowance is the five trial ideas. If the trial ideas run out halfway through a run, Aivie stops, tells you so, and keeps the pages it already made. The AI calls also go to your own OpenAI account, so they appear on your OpenAI bill. See package tiers for the limits.

Once you have a licence, Aivie also runs this generation by itself, by default on the first of every month. During a trial the scheduled jobs do not run, so use Auto generate. See Background jobs.

Review the result

Open the tab Ideas. Every generated page appears there as a card with its cluster and creation date, and a status of Open or Closed. Open the pages in the content tree, check them, and edit them where needed. Aivie gives the new pages publication dates, which you can follow and adjust in the planner. The tab Ideas is described in Ideas and idea groups.
